The Conservator has been on leave since 1974. In their absence the restoration of
this panel has continued. The Institute does not know who is continuing it. The work is competent.
The work is, in the opinion of two external assessors, better than competent.

⚠ The panel is being restored past its original state. At 100% the restoration did not stop.
It is now at a figure greater than 100%, which the Institute has decided to display as a percentage
anyway, because the alternative is to describe what is being added.
WHAT IS BEING ADDED
A figure, in the background, on the left. It was not in the 1961 photographs. It was not in
the underdrawing, which has been imaged. It is being painted in by whoever is doing the restoration,
with great care, in a style consistent with the original hand.
It is facing out of the painting.
